Living With My Daughter...

See how sweet she looks...do NOT be fooled. This little pre-tween has a way with me like no one else I know. She keeps me laughing most days and sometimes a little teary eyed.
I am so thankful that God blessed me with a daughter. I love this little sweet girl too much.

Now with that being said..she is stubborn..and I have no idea where she got it from. She has a sense of humor that will not stop. She is a mixture of strong and gentle at the same time.

And she has me and her daddy just where she wants us...LOL.

In some ways she is so independent and the other side of her wants me to drive her to the new Jr high her first day.

But she is growing up fast...too fast...

Tell me will she love me when she is 13? Will she think I am so cool when she is 14? Will she want to stay up late and watch movies with me when she is 15? is she going to pick boys over me at 16?

Is she 12 then like my daughter? I am right there with you. I am nervous about how much she'll hate me in the coming years. I remember thinking my mom was stupid. :( Now I have pay back four times over coming to me. I hope that I can be a good mom without spoiling them all too much. haha

Amy,
Yes she will love you at 13. And maybe think your cool when she is 14. Probably will still want to watch late night movies with you 15. She will probably pick the boys over you long before 16 though. Maybe tomorrow? At least it will seem that way. Our children grow up long before we are ready for them to grow up.

Most have their moments of rebellion. But my oldest daughter is 25 and we have always been close. Especially more so now that she's married and became a Mom herself in March. I always made sure the lines of communication was open, to the point that I wrote in a journal that I would leave under her pillow and she would write back to me.

I am so thankful to have a daughter too. I hope our relationship is as sweet as yours when she gets older.

Amy,
My youngest daughter is 12 and my oldest is 17...they are vastly different. My oldest daughter doesn't have much free time anymore so we see each other in passing. Relish the time you have with Emily...it goes by fast!

As precious as she is to you - you hold that same spot in her heart too. You guys have a great bond - it is obvious in your writings...
I know she already knows... no one can love you like your mom.

ps - she is BEAUTIFUL

i think this is such a beautiful post. i'd like to share that i was always terribly close to my mother, but i drift away in high school. no reason - just teenage angst. yet, i never for a moment doubted her love and toward my late teens i opened up to her again. today we are as close as ever. she is the best mom to me.

as i can tell, you are the best mom to your kids.

thinking of you - although i am often quiet...

Oh preteen's are a blast that's for sure!!! She sounds alot like my J who Just turned 15. I think they way they view us and treat us is all a reflection of how we have raised them!! Tonight is the first night of J's life that he has gone "out" with a group of friends for the night!! It's not that he hasn't hung out and spent the night or vice versa with his friends but tonight he actually went with a group of friends to dinner then a rodeo then back to the friends for a "party" (alcohol free of course)!! But I will say it is quite an odd thing for me LOL!!

Your daughter is just beautiful by the way!!!!

I don't know, but I bet she'll be your best friend when she is grown up. ;) Hang onto that thought when things get rough... if they do.
